Recaro is a name synonymous with high-end automotive safety. Following a recommendation, Recaro approached us to develop a range of adaptors to allow their baby seats to retrofit onto different pushchair/stroller chassis.
Apart from maintaining their brand reputation, the main challenges were technical. How could we design adaptors that were simple to fit, strong enough to comply with safety regulations, yet be easy to manufacture and at a viable unit cost?
We started by contacting the main pushchair manufacturers: Bugaboo, iCandy, Baby Jogger, Maxi Cosi, etc, who provided us with some early ideas. From these we developed a number of prototypes, each undergoing computational stress modelling and validation, before coming up with the final designs.
Our work didn't end there, we guided Recaro through the tooling, quality control and manufacturing processes, even helping them develop user instructions, before launching six different types of adaptors to the market.
